What is a conduit offset bend?

An offset bend shifts conduit to avoid obstacles. Two bends at the same angle create a parallel shift.

How to calculate offset bend distance?

Distance between marks = offset height / sin(angle). For 30°: height × 2.0. For 45°: height × 1.41.

Shrink is the amount the conduit 'shortens' due to the offset. For 30°: about 1/4 inch per inch of offset.

A conduit offset uses two identical bends to shift the run. Distance between marks = offset height / sin(angle).

Shrink accounts for the conduit shortening: shrink = offset × tan(angle/2). Always add shrink to your total length.
