Offset, stub-up, and three-point saddle layout for field marking

Input parameters

Method and scope

For an offset, mark spacing is rise ÷ sin(angle), and geometry shrink is rise × tan(angle ÷ 2). A three-point saddle uses the same outer-mark spacing, with a center bend of twice the outside angle.

Use the take-up stamped on the actual bender and verify the finished bend against the conduit, bender, code, and installation conditions. This layout tool does not replace manufacturer instructions or electrical-code requirements.

FAQ

What is the 30° conduit offset multiplier?

The mathematical multiplier is 2.00, because 1 ÷ sin(30°) equals 2.

Does take-up vary by bender?

Yes. Stub-up take-up varies with conduit size and bender model. Enter the value marked on your bender.

Can I use this for a four-point saddle?

This page covers a symmetric three-point saddle. Four-point and concentric layouts need their own bend sequence and allowances.
