How this voltage divider calculator works

A voltage divider produces a fraction of the input voltage using series resistors. The classic 2-resistor formula: Vout = Vin × R2/(R1+R2).

For 3-resistor dividers, you can tap between any two resistors for different output voltages.

FAQ

What is a voltage divider?

Two or more resistors in series to produce a fraction of input voltage.

How to calculate output?

Vout = Vin × R2/(R1+R2). Equal resistors give half voltage.

3-resistor divider?

Provides two tap points with different output voltages.
