Manual J Calculator (Simplified)

Whole-home screening estimate for cooling, heating, AC capacity, and supply airflow

Input parameters

Method and scope

This screening model combines a climate-specific area allowance, ceiling-height adjustment, window allowance, and occupant allowance. It gives one whole-home number rather than room-by-room loads.

This is not an ACCA Manual J report and is not suitable for permitting, equipment purchase, duct design, or a rebate submission. A qualified designer must verify envelope areas, orientation, infiltration, design weather, latent load, ducts, and equipment selection.

FAQ

Is this an official ACCA Manual J calculation?

No. It is a transparent preliminary screening tool inspired by the inputs used in Manual J. A full Manual J requires detailed room-by-room envelope and design-weather data.

Why does it show CFM?

A common preliminary airflow screen is about 400 CFM per ton. Actual airflow depends on equipment, humidity control, duct design, and manufacturer data.

Can I size equipment from this result?

Use it only to prepare questions for an HVAC professional. Final equipment and duct selection require a detailed design.
